Bibeau's goal lifts Bulldogs to victory

CHAPLIN — Nicole Bibeau scored the game-winning goal off a corner kick with 1:20 remaining to lift the Lyman Memorial girls soccer team to a 2-1 non-league victory on Wednesday afternoon over Parish Hill.

Hailey Tompkins sent the corner kick into the box for the Bulldogs (4-7-1). Bibeau also tied the game at 1-all in the 22nd minute after knocking in a rebound of an initial shot from Sydney Pankowski.

Amanda Sears made eight saves for Lyman Memorial.

The Pirates (4-4-2) took an early 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when Rajchel Smardon knocked in a crossing pass from Maddie Stimson.

In other games.......

Emily Tartsinis had seven saves for Windham (2-8-1 overall, 1-8 Division III) in a 4-0 Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III loss to Tourtellotte at Ferrigno Field.

Maegan Roy, Morgan Graham, Ashley Morin and Harley Dimock scored for the Tigers (9-2-1, 7-2-1).

Janna O'Connor scored four goals as Windham Tech rolled to a 7-1 Connecticut Technical Conference Charter Oak East Division victory over Prince Tech in Hartford.

Ryleigh Ansich added two goals and an assist, Alexis Mendez had a goal and two assists for the Mighty Tigers (7-3-1, 4-0 Charter Oak East), who have qualified for the Class S tournament in two of the last three seasons.

"We're playing good team soccer right now," Windham Tech coach Brandon Strout said. "Last year we struggled to find our identity as a team. This year we have made the team our identity. Everyone is contributing, we are playing unselfishly and great team soccer. Best of all we are having fun doing it." BOYS SOCCER

Jordan Balogh made seven saves for Windham Tech (7-3-1), which dropped a 6-0 CTC inter-decision to Bullard Havens-Bridgeport in Willimantic.

Chris Sowinski and Samuel Garcia each scored twice for the Tigers (8-1-3).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Meg Verizzi finished with 45 assists in helping lift Lyman Memorial in a 25-12, 25-19, 25-13 ECC inter-division victory at Montville.

Leah Vichas added 16 kills, 18 digs and six aces while Emerson Bailey had 15 kills and two aces for the Bulldogs (12-1).

Alexzia Lopez won 25 service points and Marissa Shirshac added seven kills and Windham Tech (3-11 overall, 2-4 Charter Oak East) defeated Grasso Tech, 25-12, 25-12, 25-27 25-4 in a CTC Charter Oak East Division match in Willimantic.

Chelsea Orefice had seven kills and two blocks and Autumn Reed added six assists and three kills as Windham (2-10) dropped a 25-9, 25-11, 25-18 ECC inter-division match to Bacon Academy at Dave Shea Gymnasium.

Abby Gustavsen led the Bobcats (3-11) with 22 assists.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Taylor Ney finished first overall (17:35) as Coventry defeated Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy (18-39) and fell to Ellington (20-42) and Stafford (22-35) in a North Central Connecticut Conference quad-meet at Ellington High School.
