Parish Hill routs Mighty Tigers

CHAPLIN — Freshman Daniella MacNaughton provided the bookends with a pair of goals during a 5-goal first half as the Parish Hill girls soccer team opened their season with an 8-1 non-league victory on Monday afternoon over Windham Tech.

Hannah Vieira and Maria Tomas also scored twice for the Pirates (1-0) while Rajchel Smardon also found the back of the net in the victory. Vanessa Surridge added a pair of assists.

Danielle Grenier scored for the Mighty Tigers (0-2).

In other games.......

• Hayley Rich tied things up with her second goal of the night with 11 minutes remaining in the second half as Lyman Memorial played to a 2-2 double-overtime draw with Tourtellotte in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III match.

Amanda Sears had nine saves for the Bulldogs (0-1-1 overall, 0-0-1 Division III).

VOLLEYBALL

Alana Hruska and Anna Barry each had 17 kills to help lead RHAM in a 25-18, 25-19, 25-14 Central Connecticut Conference Patriot East Division victory over E.O. Smith in Storrs.

Allie Welch finished with 31 assists and three kills, Ariana Rajee had 13 digs and Katie Shea added five kills and two blocks for the Sachems (2-0 overall, 2-0 Patriot).

Gabi Dumond led the Panthers (1-1, 1-1) with 19 assists.

• Madison Vargas won seven service points with two aces, five digs and one kill for Windham in a 25-8, 25-8, 25-12 ECC inter-division loss to Montville at Callaghan Gymnasium.

Autumn Reed added six service points, three assists and one kill for the Whips (1-1).

• Keneishaliz Irizarry (11 service points) and Marissa Shirshac (15 service points) led Windham Tech (0-2) in a 3-2 Connecticut Technical Conference inter-division loss to Wolcott Tech.

• Meg Verizzi had 22 assists and three aces for Lyman Memorial in a 25-21, 25-7, 25-18 ECC inter-division victory over Woodstock Academy in Lebanon.

Marina Megson added eight kills and three aces while Leah Vichas had 11 kills, three aces and 10 digs for the Bulldogs (2-0).

BOYS SOCCER

Tommy Lehoux, Gavin LaBelle and Brent Freed scored second-half goals as Parish Hill pulled away for a 5-1 non-league victory over Windham Tech in Willimantic.

Lucian Araujo and Kaleb Calkins added goals for the Pirates (1-0). Thomas McKinney made four saves in the victory.

Abram Rosario tied things up at 1-all for the Mighty Tigers (0-2) in the first half.
